Watercolour Painting Holidays
A watercolour painting holiday at Gartmore House gives you the chance to improve your skills in relaxed company and comfortable surroundings.
Our painting holidays are for all abilities; we purposefully do not take large numbers to allow our tutors to give you personalised instruction based upon your level of experience.
Holidays are available from 2 nights up to 7 nights. See available dates below.
Arrive late afternoon on the Sunday to afternoon tea in the lounge and a warm welcome from your tutors.
During the week you will work on a painting project during morning and afternoon sessions in the studio or outdoors, weather dependent.
Spend the evenings in our lounge where we provide a variety of entertainment which could include a history of the house with its wonderful tale of politics poetry and passion, quizzes and games, or if you choose, continue work on your project.
Your week will also include a visit to Loch Katrine or The Scottish Wool Centre in Aberfoyle. Transport is provided for this trip.
Departure is after breakfast on Friday.
What you will need
We will provide all materials, boards, paper and brushes, but feel free to bring your favourite materials if preferred.
Depending on the weather we would plan to have some outdoor sessions, so you might want to include outdoor clothing.
Ian Sinclair trained at the Glasgow School of Art. He specialises is known for his work in Watercolour. He is best known for his Landscape paintings but takes commissions for portraits and animals. Another interest is cartoons and caricatures.
Ian is experienced teaching beginners and also the more experienced painters. His gentle manner and friendly style, love of landscape and nature, makes him a popular tutor as he brings out the best from those who work with him.HtXePQ
Katy Sinclair is a local painter with a style which is fast becoming recognisable as unique to her, whether it be watercolours of the Scottish landscape, the fine detail she captures in her flower paintings or movement in her representations of the human form. Always talented at sketching, Katy started painting only in 2012 and since then won 58 international awards. Gifted with a delicacy of touch and colour and a balance of detail, she is a figurative painter who has the talent of being able to immerse herself in her subjects and convey that passion to the viewers of her art. Many of her paintings have an ethereal charm. Katy lives in Killearn with her husband and two cats. She has worked and lived in Poland, Syria, Czech Republic, England, Mexico, Belize and Portugal.
She loves Scotland and the richness and variety of its natural heritage which provide her with an infinite source of inspiration. Her work is becoming almost as well-travelled as she is; Katy’s paintings are being snapped up by visitors from many different countries and she is delighted that ‘little bits of Scotland’ adorn so many walls ─ at the present count, in five continents.
Gartmore House has 23 en-suite bedrooms many with wonderful views. Tea & coffee making facilities available in all rooms, comfortable lounge, dining room and library to relax in and 75 acres of grounds to enjoy.
We may be able to help with pick ups from Stirling Train Station by prior arrangement.
