Sewing Weekends – Learn to Sew
Dedicate some time to yourself and enjoy a relaxing sewing weekend in an inspiring location. This course is for complete beginners or returners.
Gill, our professional sewing tutor, will guide you through a variety of basic sewing techniques. The teaching programme is extremely flexible and depends on what appeals the most to you.
The setting of Gartmore House is the perfect getaway from a busy life. Set in a beautiful 18th century country house in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Scotland, with views that stretch 25 miles across to Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument and charming ensuite bedrooms.
When you first start using a sewing machine, it’s inevitable that you find some little hiccups. Don’t get yourself down, Gill will teach you how to solve them in the most fun and simple way!
Our goal for this course is to provide you with a whole understanding of sewing machines. You will learn how to put a needle in, how to thread it properly and sort the bobbin. You’ll also be able to sew straight lines and curves, explore all the stitches on the machine and a variety of patterns.
On the first day of tuition, guests will produce a lovely pincushion and a cushion cover, while on day 2 you will focus on the creation of small bags.
Your stay will be in the comfort of Gartmore House, all bedrooms are ensuite with tea and coffee making facilities and many have wonderful views over Flanders Moss towards Stirling.
All meals are included and are freshly prepared by our chef’s, using some of our garden produce.
Enjoy a glass of wine as you relax in the dining room looking out over the views and discussing your days work.
